Facebook is currently the most visited site in the world and has more than a billion users, it has so many in fact that even my grandmother added me last week! Irrelevant of the industry you operate in, every business should be leveraging Facebook to gain a consistent stream of quality leads. Facebook is a social media platform that involves two or more parties to participate, meaning it takes two to tango.

As a business you will be required to initiate the dance to generate yourself some juicy leads, this can be done in several ways which we will explain in detail today.

 1. Create a Facebook Page

The first step to gaining quality leads is to create a comprehensive Facebook Page listing all your information, including your location, how to contact you and a short snippet about what you do in the about us section. Your Facebook Page is the first point of contact with potential leads so make sure information is up-to-date, error free and looks professional.

Facebook allows you to have your own profile picture, we advise using your company logo for all social media channels to keep a consistent flow throughout.

 2. Give something away

Nothing generates page likes or attracts leads faster than giving away a product or service to anyone who likes or shares a particular post. The idea behind these contests is to give away a product or service that relates to your business to gain targeted likes. For example, a landscaping business would be better off providing a 50% off voucher to 1 or more users who like their page than giving away a Xbox or mobile phone. The voucher will attract people who are interested in hiring landscapers (targeted leads), whereas a generic gadget is marketing to a much wider audience who will never actually use your services and just like your page hoping to win.

 3. Build a community

Constantly running contests or giveaways is not a viable long-term strategy to acquire solid leads, but creating top quality content to post on your page certainly is. Post relevant content such as your own blog posts, industry news and special offers that your business is offering, the more ‘share-worthy’ the content is, the better. Post no more than twice a day as nobody likes to be spammed and ensure posts are spaced out.

Stick to the 80/20 rule when posting on any social media site including Facebook, this means 80% of your posts should be providing information or value, and the other 20% for self-promotion. Building a community is about nurturing your followers to gain trust in your business and as a by-product, the leads will come to you.

Tip: Memes sometimes work very well on social media as they get a high amount of likes and shares, which will generate more quality leads. When it was known the iPhone 6 had been bending in users pockets, major brands such as Samsung and HTC created their very own memes which went viral.

Tip #2: Answering questions to comments left by followers or asking questions yourself that require input from others is an awesome way to get a community feeling going on your page. Remember, Facebook is all about interaction.

 4. Create interest forms

There’s a good chance your company website has an integrated form where leads can give you their details for further information, so why shouldn’t your Facebook Page have one? Leads are not going to give you their personal information on your Facebook wall where it’s open for the world to see, and they may be too lazy to sign into their email account and send you a message.

Solution: make it easy for them and create a dynamic form on your Facebook Page. This way they can be alerted to future offers or further information about your business.

 5. Facebook campaigns

Creating your very own Facebook campaign is undoubtedly the fastest way to gain targeted leads, but it also costs the most too. When creating a campaign, it’s important to have a goal in mind, Facebook allows businesses to create campaigns to:

Based on the goal of your Facebook campaign will depend which campaign you should use. For example, if your website has a 7 day special offer, opting for a campaign that redirects Facebook users to your website page offering the deal is best. If the goal is to build a community on Facebook to improve your online brand and nurture leads, than increasing page likes becomes the most favorable option.

Choosing who will see these ads will play a huge part in how successful or unsuccessful the campaign will be. Facebook allows businesses to select their audience based on location, age, interests, gender, education level, languages and several other factors. The better you understand your target market the better you can attract relevant leads to later capitalize on.

6. Promoted Posts

According to a Facebook study, only 16% of fans see relevant posts from pages they have liked. For a business who has 1,000 followers, that’s as many as 840 leads who have just missed out on a special offer or informative content. Luckily, Facebook has come up with a budget friendly solution to increase the amount of eyes that see your posts by using their Promoted Post feature.

To get the most out of a Promoted Post, the information you are posting must be highly informative, entertaining or educational for your target market. Think of an engaging title and use intriguing pictures to increase the amount of opens, shares and likes.

Tip: Facebook offers you it’s own metrics to measure the success of your Promoted Posts. If they are not converting try changing the images and titles or ask yourself if this content is relevant to your audience.

Creating a Facebook Page from scratch is hard work, but once you get the momentum rolling the amount of likes and leads you generate can be insane. A common mistake businesses make is relying too heavily on paid promotions and not cross promoting their Facebook Page with their newsletters, website and other social media accounts.
